Dancing Is Not The Only Way Julianne Hough Stays In Shape
Saturday, May 31st, 2008 @ 8:45am

Two-time 'Dancing With the Stars' champ Julianne Hough may have been booted off the show early this season-thanks to her 'two-left-feet' partner, Adam Carolla, but the 20-year-old has no plans to slow down her red-hot career. Performing since she was 6, Julianne became the youngest female world champion in Latin dance when she was 13, and two years ago she began appearing on 'Dancing With the Stars'. Now that she's off the show to focus on a singing career, Julianne hits the gym near her home four or five times a week.
"I'm not a morning person, but I prefer to work out early because it gives me an energy boost for the rest of the day."
She starts with half an hour on either the treadmill, the elliptical, or the stationary bike, then does sculpting moves with free weights. As a dancer, Julianne has come up with a few of her own creative moves to keep things interesting.
"I don't like using the weight machines because they don't allow me the freedom to move around. With free weights I can do little twists and turns and almost choreograph my workouts. That's more fun for me, and the time goes by faster. There are certain areas of the body that dancing won't tone, so I still stretch and do crunches, lunges, and arm moves just about every day."
She maintains her sculpting plan off-season too, when she runs for 30 to 45 minutes on most days. No one said it was easy!

FitCeleb Tip Of the Day: Yoga Your Way To Happiness
Saturday, May 31st, 2008 @ 7:30am
In a bad mood? Turn it around with yoga. Regular practice boosts levels of a neurotransmitter that helps ward off depression, research from the Boston University School of Medicine reveals. After an hour session, yogis had a 27 percent uptick in gammamniobutryic acid (a deficit is associated with the blues) compared with those who read quietly. Do a Downward Dog next time your spirits need a lift.

Find Out Pamela Anderson's Secret For Staying Fit
Friday, May 30th, 2008 @ 3:30pm
"...Who would've thought I'd be in the best shape of my life at 40? As I don't exercise much, my doctor told me my saving grace is that I don't eat meat. I promise you, fatty burgers and chicken legs will go right to your thighs. So I eat fruits, vegetables, nuts, beans, whole grains, seeds and soy; plant-based foods low in fat and high in complex carbs."
A day in Pam's diet, which bans dairy, eggs, fish and meat:
Fruit and oatmeal for breakfast, a ginger smoothie midmorning, a salad and veggie burger for lunch and pasta or veggie sushi at dinner.
Are any of you vegans? How is it beneficial to your diet?

Mario Lopez Talks About His Struggle To Stay Fit
Friday, May 30th, 2008 @ 2:20pm
Mario Lopez recently sat down with OK! Magazine to discuss his role in 'A Chorus Line' on Broadway. He spoke about the struggle to stay fit while putting in so many hours a week. What fitness tips can he share?
"Depending on your level and how serious you want to be, try to eat every three hours, keep it real small meals, make your first meal at seven in the morning and your last meal at seven at night. Don't eat past twelve hours. Keep it light. Keep the carbs before three o'clock. Try to break a sweat every day. You don't have to do the same thing. Keep your muscles guessing."
Mario likes to listen to hiphop or dance music when he's boxing, but when he's running, it's all "80s tunes.
His choice for breakfast?
"I made a shake with peanut butter, granola, strawberries and bananas."
Even though I'm sure it may be a little harder for Mario now that he's on Broadway, I'm sure it comes a little easier for him than it does for the rest of us. ;)
