Seth Rogen Too Sexy For His Fans
Actor Seth Rogen is struggling to accept his newly svelte figure - because he's let down the legions of chubby men who looked up to him. The funnyman slimmed down to star in forthcoming comic book move The Green Hornet, and has to cope with strangers approaching him about his weight loss. And Rogen admits not all of the comments are complimentary. He says,
"That's the weird thing about losing weight, strangers (compliment) you. It does (make me uncomfortable) a little but I don't know them... "I think for chubby guys, I was their guy so they were like, 'I can be chubby. Seth Rogen's chubby, so who cares.' But now I'm not so chubby anymore. So now they're like, 'I have to lose weight.' I've let them down. I've blatantly sold out. It's only for money."
Has anyone ever experienced that before, lost weight and noticed some friendships began to change as a result?
I haven't lost any friendships but I have gotten lots of comments. I didn't even realize that I had lost weight. It was only a few pounds at that!!

Been there, done that. I recently lost 30 lbs., and before I got a chance to get comfortable with my new body, I had everyone and their mother telling me about how I looked. Some of the comments were great and helped me keep going (my brothers who told me I looked stronger, my friends who said I was glowing). But others made my uncomfortable, especially the comments from people who had their own weight issues. It was obvious that they thought I was some type of traitor and that the weight had magically melted away. They totally ignored the hours I spent (and still spend) in the gym and on the road. I've had to move those people from friends to acquaintances, their negativity did nothing for me and I got tired of hearing their excuses for their own failures (and feeling more guilty for my successes). And as I get more comfortable with my weight loss, I find it easier to accepts compliments on it and move on.
When I lost weight, I had people tell me I looked sick, (though strangers cruised me more frequently) and one judge I work for asked me if I was ok and told me I looked better before. Years later when I gained it all back plus, she never told me I looked good. I liked Seth the way he was, and I'll like him the way he is now. He's just hot and funny.
Over three years I lost 70 pounds, and it really registers with people I haven't seen in a long time. Straight guys usually notice (they repeatedly look at where my belly used to be) but don't say anything. Ladies always notice, and most say something complimentary. A couple of gay guys told me they liked my belly before, which really surprised me. Nobody of any persuation ever complimented my belly back in the day.
My mother-in-law had a decades long friendship with a woman who was quite obese. That woman lost a tremendous amount of weight and is now a quite svelte middle-aged lady. She's now running marathons, dating successful men, traveling the world, and doing as much as she possibly can, except for stopping by to chat with her longtime friend like she used to. My mother-in-law really misses having this woman in her life, but, at the same time, is happy to see her finally living life to its fullest.
