Is Nicole Kidman’s Exercise Routine Threatening Her Pregnancy?
Nicole Kidman, 40-year-old mom-to-be, has already admitted to suffering a previous miscarriage with ex-husband Tom Cruise. According to the Sydney’s Daily Telegraph, Nicole has a yoga instructor that comes to her home in the morning, followed by a training session at the gym and then a 60-minute cycle class. Nicole works out five days a week and she’s only in her first trimester. Should she be working out this hard being that she has suffered a miscarriage in the past?
As per the American Pregnancy Association:
- Moderate exercise has not been proven to cause a miscarriage
- A woman who has had a previous miscarriage has a 25% chance of having another.
Do you think Nicole’s exercise routine is considered moderate or is it too much!?
According to Manhattan-based nutritionist, Dr. Oz Garcia says:
“That while exercise and mobility is different for each mother-to-be, he wouldn’t recommend that Nicole spends too much time in the gym.
”You don’t want to be working out to the point of being overheated and over-sweating and raising blood pressure — those are all things that could add stress to the pregnancy.

Tom Cruise » Is Nicole Kidman’s Exercise Routine Threatening Her Pregnancy? - February 20, 2008 @ 6:06 pmI think these Hollywood women are so concerned with how their body will look after the pregnancy that they don’t even consider that it could be unhealthy for the baby. It sounds like a lot, you’d think she might want to more careful, considering her age and previous miscarriages.
Janine - February 20, 2008 @ 6:08 pmIf your body is used to it, there’s no reason to not continue to do the same type of exercises. I would hope she and her trainers are sensible enough to have modified the programme.
Fiona - February 20, 2008 @ 6:24 pmThis could be her last opportunity. It sounds like she’s working out 2-3 hours on her workout days. Seems alot to me…regardless of how much she worked out before. It seems she would rather gain some weight than risk losing the baby since she said she wanted one so much. I hope she quit smoking as well.
Yes - February 20, 2008 @ 7:34 pmPeople who exercise a lot pre-pregnancy shouldn’t have any trouble maintaining a more vigorous routine during pregnancy than the average person. Marathon runners, for example, continue to run right through their ninth month, and are usually training again within a couple of weeks of the birth of their child. Of course, Nicole Kidman is NOT an elite athlete — just someone in really great shape, who obviously takes care of herself and works hard to stay slim and toned. I would be very surprised, then — especially given the fact that she no doubt pays a LOT of money to work with top trainers and nutritionists — if she hadn’t already toned down her regular workouts accordingly.
